Supported Texas Utilities

Most homes in Texas are served by one of the 4 Transmission and Distribution Service Providers (TDSPs):  AEP, CenterPoint,Oncor, and TNMP.  You will also have a Retail Energy Provider (REP) that provides you with your monthly bill.  Here is the status of those connections.  Unfortunately, due to changes made by the public utilities commission, it is not possible for customers to connect our products any longer to your smart meter.  Here is the current status:

  • Centerpoint:  Does not support new device connections as of Dec 8, 2019.  Customers that connected prior to that date can get support at: HAN.Support@CenterpointEnergy.com
  • Oncor: Does not support new device connections as of Dec 8, 2019. Customers that connected prior to that date can get support at: HANsupport@oncor.com
  • AEP: Supports new connections.  New connection requests can be done at: hansupport@aep.com
  • TNMP:  Status unknown.

How to register your device through Smart Meter Texas

After you have received your device from Rainforest Automation, follow these simple steps:

 

  1. If you haven’t yet visited Smart Meter Texas, create a new account.
  2. Log into your account, select HAN devices.
  3. Select your service address, then click View HAN Devices.
  4. Click Add a HAN Device.
  5. Enter the MAC Address (MAC) and Install Code (IN) found on the back or bottom of your Rainforest Device.
  6. Click Add Device
